Description of specimen

Japanese knotweed can be found along the riverbank downstream from the bridge (SW Borland / Willamette Falls Drive) to the fishing dock. There is also a wetland-like area in the middle of the park which has a lot of knotweed in it. Because it's along the Tualatin River, it seems to me a like a high priority area for eradication due to the possibility of it spreading via water travel.

About me: I am the organizer of about a half-dozen SOLVE events at Fields Bridge Park (in conjunction with the city of West Linn and Tualatin Riverkeepers) and we come across knotweed at all of our "ivy-pull" events. Til now, we have pulled it out at ground level and disposed of it in plastic contractor-grade hefty bags. I would appreciate help/feedback on how to better deal with this plant. I am open to a discussion with any expert on your end. My cell # is 503-867-1075 and my email is listed above.
