Description of specimen

I believe this may be spurge laurel. 2' - 3' high. Somewhat shiny leaf with serrated edge. Woody stem about 1/2" to inch thick. If you cut it at the ground the darn stuff sprouts from root stock the next year. Leaves turn dark red after plant is cut and dying. THICK growth in original patch.

It seems to be an allergen or skin irritant of some kind. I put on heavy jeans when I go out in it and still get some irritation on the skin of my legs where the leaves might poke through the denim. I also learned to wear heavy leather gloves. I started out with rubberized cloth gloves and got welts on the back of my hands.

Commentary

I am getting two goats. If this is spurge laurel, I read that it was toxic. Will it harm the goats? Will they eat it?

Is there any state or federal aid for fighting this stuff. My husband and I are older with back problems and cannot hire to have this stuff exterminated. I have been trying to keep it away from the house but am very concerned for our cedars and for how much more I am seeing pop up in other places.

How do you kill this stuff?
