Mediterranean Oak Borer (Xyleborus monographus) on Dec 18, 2023

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Ongoing monitoring

Description of specimen

Half of the canopy of an Oregon white oak died mid-summer without apparent cause. The foliage flagged, died and browned.

Commentary

I visited the tree and spoke with the landowner. There was no evidence of MOB (no frass, adults, galleries) however these images certainly look like MOB may be present perhaps at the top of the tree. I will reach out to the landowner this spring when MOB are more active to sample again.
