Land Plants - invasive

Himalayan Blackberry (Rubus bifrons [R. aremeniacus, R. discolor, R. procerus]) on Jun 17, 2010

Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

The black berries are growing behind the houses along the path cut for the power lines. They have been allowed to grow and now it seems that all anyone can do is continue to cut them back just to keep them out of their yards. The problem seems to be that this area where the plants are growing is between properties and no one wants to take care of it.

Commentary

Hi Dana, unfortunately, Himalayan blackberries are wel established throughout the Willamette Valley. Please see the hyperlink I provided above, which offers some solutions to managing this invasive species.
