Description of specimen

I honestly can't tell if this is a western painted turtle or a red eared slider. The turtle pulled his head in when I saw it. I was able to take a picture, but my iPhone identified it as a Pond Slider when I reviewed the image later. I started to research turtle species this evening, and came across the Tualatin Valley Soil and Water Conservation website and the educational material.

This turtle was spotted around 3PM on June 19th 2024- I was taking a break from work and walking near the wetlands pathway. I wish I'd found the hotline sooner!
