Description of specimen

I found many thick, single-species stands of Japanese knotweed growing below, along, and above the high water line on both sides of the Trask River at the Peninsula Day Use Area. (I think it was Japanese knotweed, definitely Fallopia/Reynoutria. It may have been the other species or the hybrid.) The Peninsula Day Use Area is or was home to at least two rare/threatened plant species (one a candidate for state listing, another a federal species of concern), both of which are known to occur below or just above the high water line where I found these thick stands of knotweed growing.
