Land Plants - invasive

Old Man's Beard (Clematis vitalba) on Jul 21, 2010

Submitter has sample
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

Several small to medium patches, mostly in tree canopy and spreading quickly, found in the park. Known locations are near roads or parking lots. Staff has been controlling the patches for several years and continue to do so. A more detailed survey of the park to identify additional, unknown patches will be carried out by staff in August, to be followed by a November survey (after leaf-fall).

Commentary

I would be interested to know if help is available in the form of funding or labor to help the park staff control the plant.

Andrea,

Thank you so much for contacting the Oregon Invasives Hotline, and for submitting these reports. It appears that you have been a lot of work to control invasives at Milo McIver Park. I applaude your efforts.

I would be very interested in talking with you about invasive species management on the park. I know there are a number of priority invaders that have been identified at Milo McIver, and I would happy to work with you or other park staff to combat these invaders. Please fell free to contact me for furthur information.

Thanks again for reporting these invaders, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Sam
