Several butterfly bushes in front yard and parking strip.

Commentary

I do not have an image - I tried to get a photo but I do not want these people or their friends across the street to see me take the photo. The home owner actually intentionally cultivates invasive species, and says that "all the experts are paid by Monsanto and they are all wrong." I live nest to this house and I do not want to make enemies!

Hi Judi, thank you for your report. Unfortunately, if a private citizen chooses to cultivate some of the more common invasive species in Oregon, they can choose to do so as a property owner. As a knowledgeable next door neighbor, your best approach is to continue to talk with the property owner about how their management actions are negatively affecting your property. Several of the species you described can be removed without herbicides (they can be removed with mechanical pulling).
