Yellow Douglas-fir borer (Centrodera spurca) on Jul 31, 2024
Submitter has sample
Description of specimen
It looked like a Douglas fir boring beeetle. Yellow ish tan beetle body, reddish brown dot on the sides. I didn’t get a photo
Commentary
Thank you for your report! Without an image it is difficult to identify insects. Your description fits the Douglas-fir borer, which is native and not a pest.

Location
I found it in my kitchen ( we leave the kitchen men door open a lot) in the town of Cascade locks, near the edge of town where the highway backs against the mark o’Hatfield Forest
