Description of specimen
Metallic beetle with green coloring. Specimen I have is dead.
Commentary
Thank you for your report! Fortunately, that is not a Japanese beetle -- it is a ground beetle (a generalist predator of soft-bodied insects). The leaf damage is not Japanese beetle or any other chewing insect. This may be a disease or the remains of feeding by sucking insects like leafhoppers.

Location
Japanese beetles found in soil and around yard. I have also been seeing damage to some trees from them. Garden bed in front of house was their most recent known location.
