Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

Just read an article about beetles infesting ash trees and wanted to know if that is the case for the tree in my backyard. If the tree needs to be removed I would also like to know how that can be done safely.
Thank you

Commentary

Thank you for your report! Is this an ash tree? Emerald ash borer makes D-shaped holes about 1/8" wide, and attacks only ash trees, white-fringe trees and olive trees. Here is the address of Oregon Department of Agriculture's IPPM Survey and treatment projects EAB page

https://www.oregon.gov/oda/programs/IPPM/SurveyTreatment/Pages/EmeraldAshBorer.aspx

Scroll down to find photos of Emerald Ash Borer Look-Alikes, the EAB Response Plan for Oregon, and more information about how to recognize EAB attack, so that you can monitor your tree.
