Description of specimen

it looks like a Murder Hornet or a Cicada Killer Wasp - the thing has a long stinger, so not sure.
Its trapped underneath a tupperware now.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! That is a woodwasp in the genus Tremex. They can't sting. The long ovipositor is for laying eggs under the bark of trees. Their grubs are wood borers.
