Large wasp nest that looks like the Asian murder wasp nest

Commentary

Thank you for your report! That is probably the nest of our native Bald-faced hornet, Dolichovespula maculata, and not Northern Giant Hornet (which does not make large paper nests up in the branches of trees). Although these wasps are not nearly as big as true hornets (these are actually closely related to yellow-jackets), they can sting painfully. If you cut out the nest to destroy it, wear protective clothing, or hire a professional.
