Description of specimen

not sure what kind of beattles they are just hope they are not something new from say the singapore ship parked across the river yesterday. sorry the image is out of focus. to find them just hike into the park from the first parkling lot along the mean high tide line and look at the short willows growing in the sand.

Hi Lex, here's the response from James LaBonte at ODA:

It is impossible to tell exactly which beetles these are - the image is just too fuzzy. However, they appear to be leaf beetles. There are several species of native leaf beetles in our area which can defoliate willows and have the general appearance shown. There are several flea beetles in the genera Altica and Macrohaltica that could do this, as well as several species in the genus Chrysomela.
