Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

I spotted the turtle as I crossed 130th going west. I was sure it was this species due to its very large size, compared to native turtles, and it’s sharply pointed snout. I also the tan color of the legs as it thrashed about. I’m familiar with this species from my travels in the eastern U.S..

Commentary

Thanks David! The warmer weather is bringing the turtles out, native and invasives alike. The Tualatin Soil & Water Conservation District has some trapping efforts at Summerlake in conjunction with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. We've had some success, but these large ones are hard to get.

If you have any questions, please reach out.
