Land Plants - invasive

Meadow Knapweed (Centaurea × moncktonii) on Oct 12, 2010

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

The meadow knapweed was located on and at the base of a south facing slope below the future camp host site. The lower portion of the infestation is part of the old canal that transported water from the Sandy River/Marmot site to the Little Sandy Dam site. A total of approximately 30 to 50 plants covering an area approximately 50ft X 100ft was identified. On Oct 5th 2010 an effort to pull all meadow knapweed located at this site was conducted. All plants were bagged and removed from the site. Other areas along the old canal were not surveyed. These areas are in need of surveys due the fact that the same seed mix and equipment was used in all areas.
