Grey and black beetle, there were many, and for some the lighter portion tinted toward yellow looks lol camo pattern

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is Neoclytus conjunctus, called the Western Ash Borer, but their grubs can develop in dead branches of a few other kinds of trees in addition to ash. I don't find any reports of this (native) borer attacking fig, and they are not tree-killers as are some of the invasive borers. Keep an eye out, though, for elliptical exit holes or sawdust on your tree, and follow up on this report if you do.
