Description of specimen

Many native white ash with dead tops growing along the I5 in Lane county.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! EAB is not known from near that area. Ash trees may show dead tops or limbs for a number of reasons aside from EAB. Look for D-shaped exit holes, bark splits, and S-shaped galleries under the bark. Here is the address of the ODF EAB website with current information:

ODF staff visited this area on June 20. There were several areas with declining ash trees (which is not uncommon and is often due to multiple factors other than EAB). Access was not readily available to these areas on private property. ODF will be monitoring this area. IF any landowners in this area have symptomatic ash trees, we would be happy to do an inspection for EAB.
