Description of specimen

plant forming a large rosset (~1.5 - 2ft in diamiter)
leaves with white marbling along the veins
leaves with large woody spines
no flowers present
I have no photo but I manage Noxious Weeds for a living so I am sure of my ID

Hey, Curtis. Good to hear from you. Sorry to take so long getting back to you. It does sound like milk thistle: there have been patches found at the north end of the wetlands along the railroad, and downstream nearer the landfill, so it's not big surprise, but it does concern me. We'll try to get out for a look in the next month and scout the area. If we have any trouble finding it, I'll check back with you. For management, we've been using low rates of triclopyr, which seems to be fairly effective.
