Description of specimen

I saw what looked to be a spotted lanternfly on one of the recycle bins about 4 weeks ago. Flying but with red back, blackish wings and spots. There are a lot of flying bugs in the area and this one stood out. I have not seen any since.

Thank you for your report! Without a photo or specimen we can't verify what you saw, but it probably wasn't SLF flying a month ago -- they aren't adults until later in the summer. If you see another, try to get a photo to post here.
