Insects and Spiders - native

Originally reported as Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis)

Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

Roughly 2 inches long, it landed on my chest and quickly flew off. I had distributed flyers in 2022 so I recognized what it was and feel I am reasonably informed. This is the only sighting I've had since.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! EAB isn't known from that area yet, and it is smaller than 2" long, so let's hope you are mistaken. There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODF EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Thanks for being on the lookout!
