Mediterranean Oak Borer (Xyleborus monographus) on Jun 5, 2025

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Population assessed

Description of specimen

I found a very large oak tree (3+ ft DBH) with barely any canopy. It doesn’t appear to have any recent disturbance around it. I didn’t see any frass, exit holes, or beetles. I’m only submitting this in case the oak struggling like this could be a sign of MOB.

Commentary

Thanks for the report, I will follow up shortly and will provide a status update here.

I visited this tree today, there is no evidence of mob but there is extensive stem rot, encroaching infrastructure, and I noticed several ports for a systemic injection around the base of the tree. I added this to the field maps and we will keep tracking it as a mob susceptible tree.
