Description of specimen

It was the size of my pinky finger. I have lived in Oregon my entire life and never seen a hornet that big.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is a cicada killer wasp in the genus Sphecius. They are common in eastern Oregon. No Northern giant hornets have been confirmed in Oregon.
