Hi Bill, thank you for your report of starlings off Highway 26. As you're probably aware, this species is not native to the United States. They can (and do, as evidenced by your report), exist in large flocks. Unfortunately, after being introduced to the United States in the 1890s, they have taken up permanent residence in North America, and compete with many of our native bird species for nest sites and other habitat requirements. I have forwarded your report on to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Location
Starlings by the thousands on a regular basis frequent this location by the Hillsboro Stadium on the HIGH transmission towers near the Sunset Fred Meyer off Highway 26. If you could tag one of those birds, then follow them with a radio to their huge nest in the west hills up by Murray Hill Home Depot area and do a mass killing, that would be great! Anytime there is an event toward the evening(1-2 hrs prior to sunset) at the Stadium and we park there under the power towers, we get pooped on. Please poison them or kill them somehow. My children could catch some disease! They've been at this location for years. I am going to report this to KGW if I don't get a plan to get something done...also the birds are bad on the interstate bridge. Please HELP.
I just hope for one time, something is actually done now that we have a NEW Governor.
