Description of specimen

Found a couple of Beatles in our pool that were definitely geen and elongated. When I saw a story on the news with a picture, it looked like what I had seen. I don't have the bugs though. They were dead. I found them in late May to mid June.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! EAB attacks only ash trees and related trees in the ash family.

There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODF EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Location

We have about 2 acres of Douglas Fir that keep dying one tree at a time. I thought I have seen a couple Beatles that looked like the Emerald Ash Boarer. I actually picked one out of my pool, but it is long gone. The area does not have any ash trees, but there are a number of Oak, Sequoia, Maple, and Douglas Fir. Some of the Seqoia are dying in the same pattern as the Doug Fir, but the rest look ok.
