Thank you for your report! Without a photo it's not possible to confirm, but we have been receiving many reports of cicada killer wasps (Species species) from your area. These are large native wasps that somewhat resemble giant hornets in their orange and brown coloring. They are not usually aggressive. The graphic is from Texas but shows the differences from giant hornets.
