Commentary

Thank you for your report! You are not far from the known area of infestation, but without a photo or specimen or characteristic damage to ash trees, it isn't possible to confirm what has caused the damage. Ash trees may show dead branches or tops for a variety of reasons.

There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODF EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Thanks for being on the lookout!

ODF staff visited this site on Friday 7/11/25 and inspected the tree in question. There were signs of tree canopy decline and dieback, however, all could be attributed to other factors like pre-existing significant damage to the trunk and indicators of verticillium wilt. At this time, no EAB exit holes or indicative bark splits were present. Additionally, this tree is within 100 ft of an EAB trap.
Spoke with the reporter and passed along resources including OregonEAB.com and https://www.treesaregood.org/

Thank you for your report!
