Description of specimen

I've been on the lookout for EAB, but so far, the trees don't seem to be affected. However, I spotted the first EAB I've ever seen (in person) today, crawling on a car in my shop! About 5/8" long bright, shiny green. Got a rag to smash him and he was gone. They move fast!

I hope to treat some of the more desirable trees, early next spring. Being mid-summer, is there something I can do in meantime?

Commentary

Thank you for your report! Without a photo or specimen or characteristic damage to ash trees, it isn't possible to confirm what you saw.

There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODF EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Thanks for being on the lookout!
