Description of specimen

Resembles a kissing bug. The shape is similar, but the color is not. This beetle seems to be mostly black. But if it’s a kissing beetle we would like to treat our house accordingly.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is an introduced member of the assassin bug family, the Masked hunter (Reduvius personatus). They do resemble kissing bugs, but they aren't biters. They feed on smaller bugs.
