Location

This summer I've noticed small white clams less than an inch in size at my property on the Alsea River tidewater at 178 Little Albany Loop, Tidewater Oregon. Also have seen up and down river while kayaking. Mostly found in shallow tidewater at low tide. I sent a photo to ODFW employee John Spangler and received a response from Eric S. Anderson. He identified the clam as an invasive species, freshwater Asian clam (Corbicula fluminea). This was the first report of this species that he had heard of on the Alsea.
