Description of specimen

I work for the Oregon department of forestry, and the species flew through the window of our vehicle while conducting a routine patrol. The beetle is roughly a 1/4-1/2 inch long. We are unsure if it’s the emerald ash borer or a look-alike.

Commentary

This specimen was received at the IPPM lab and examined. It is a specimen of Agrilus politus, the willow gall limb borer. This is a native Agrilus that feeds on willows.
