Description of specimen

Irridescent green beetle, long and skinny. Like a skinny June bug.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! Without a photo, I can't say for certain what you saw, but I will guess that it may have been Dichelonyx, a little native scarab beetle that feeds on conifers. It fits your description of an iridescent green somewhat more slender June beetle.
