Commentary

Hi Linda, thank you for your report about the opossum. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife does indeed consider them to be an invasive species, and they are found throughout the Willamette Valley and in many valleys along our coast. When they become a nuisance in an area, oftentimes landowners will call a Critter Control-type company to have the animal removed. The Department of Fish and Wildlife requires people to have a permit to trap them, and because they are invasive, they require the animals to be euthanized upon capture. Thanks for your report to the hotline!
