Description of specimen

Per google imagine search of the picture taken of a flower i have never seen before. It is reportedly presumed to be spotted knapweed. It is purple in color, spiky soft looking with some white in the center and darker purple tips on the thin "petals" in the middle. Bulbs under the flower where it bloomed. Stems are long with one leaf here and there traveling down the stem. More like a miniature bush the width of a hand at this time. Reminds be of a fancier purple version of a dandelion but taller. Multiple buds and stems. Never seen this flower before.
