Submitter has sample
Showed up voluntarily 3 or so years ago at 1375 (my dwelling). I've been pulling it out each spring as it appears, and while the population is decreasing somewhat, it is also spreading. The population at 1359 grows unabated.
Thanks for reporting this herb Robert infestation. This is important information and I will pass it along to the City of Eugene so they can be aware of the problem. While herb Robert is already fairly abundant and continues to spread, it is valuable to keep track of where it is and where it is going. Unfortunately there are not many resources in lane county to address the problem of invasive species. I would suggest you download and share this factsheet with your neighbors and encourage them to keep a handle on the infestation.
Talking to neighbors can be tricky but if done delicately and with respectfully, I feel it is one of the only ways we are really going to address the problem. City, County, and State resources are too thin to address herb Robert, yet it remains a big problem. Concerned citizens who raise awareness by talking with their neighbors and with their commissioners can make a big difference in preventing the spread of invasive species.
Thanks again for your report! If you enjoy weed watching, other species you can be on the lookout for are: garlic mustard, orange hawkweed, and giant hogweed. We would respond and control any take control action on any of these "early detection" species. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
