Description of specimen

Shiny green beetle inside branch of unknown type of tree or bush. Not sure if Emerald Ash Borer.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! This is not EAB. This is Western cedar borer, Trachykele blondelii. They are much larger and less slender than EAB. Their grubs live in dead and dying conifirs, for example, arbor vitae. The hot dry conditions this summer are hard on the trees.
