Description of specimen

I got a load of firewood from an area between Adair Village and Albany (5160 Scenic Dr Albany, OR I think it was, or that general area on Scenic Dr) and when I was splitting the firewood back at my home in Peoria I found one of these Emerald Ash Borer beetles inside the wood. I actually ended up feeding it to my chickens as I usually give them the grubs I find in wood, so this one is dead and gone now. I also saw one last year on my property in Peoria as well unrelated, it landed under my covered porch area and then later flew off. I didn't know what they were or that they were invasive, just thought they looked super pretty and never seen those before. My house is 29559 Abraham Dr, Halsey, OR 97348. I just saw a news article today about them and it said they were invasive and how to report them if you have seen one, so I did.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! There are a number of iridescent green look-alike beetles in Oregon that are not pests. I am attaching a link to the ODF EAB webpage with some photos of other Oregon insects that could be mistaken for EAB

Thanks for being on the lookout!
