Land Plants - invasive

Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) on May 25, 2011

EDRR Status: Ongoing monitoring

Description of specimen

Sam and Jeff, Our contractors found Garlic mustard at our site, location marked on the map. I confirmed and we sprayed the site 5/24. All rosettes at this point no mature plants. All carried in on river deposits from this winters flood event. So that means that it is in the river system upstream from this point. Get ready for a flood of garlic mustard in this area. We and our farmer will stay on top of this. I have contacted Calcagno farms to let them know. They will be broadcast spraying the field Asap and washing their equipment when moving from site to site.

Commentary

Thanks for the update Chris.

Jeff and I are going to try to get this infestation figured out. It definitely does not bode well for riparian zones downstream and throughout the system. We did notice another patch to the south and just upstream that we are still sorting out. I'll keep you updated on what we find.

Sam
