Aquatic Plants - invasive

Knotweed (species unknown) (Fallopia spp.) on Oct 14, 2025

Submitter does not have a specimen

Description of specimen

These big bushy plants with long narrow flower clusters and stems that zig-zag outwards match photos of the knotweed plant published by the Nehalem Basin Partnership Project in a one page color flyer called "Nehalem Landowner Engagement Initiative." They are growing along the top edge of the ditches that contain these streams. Both Whitney Brook and School Creek are also clogged with English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry along with native species.

Commentary

Thanks Jacob and Grant for all the support and effort to raise awareness about the noxious Knotweed. TCSWCD has been working with landowners to help control the invasive plant for over a decade now! How the time flys...
I encourage everyone to take photos, as it makes it possible to get a 100% identification.
