Description of specimen

Google imaging said it was a devils coach - horse beetle? Though I'm not exactly sure if it is that or another rove beetle. It was about an inch maybe inch and a half, all black. It rose it's back as if to sting when I tried to squish it.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! The Devil's coach horse is exotic in Oregon, but it's well established and not a pest.
