EDRR Status: Controlled at site

Medium sized Garry Oak in backyard. Tree died suddenly over the summer of 2025. During removal on Oct 24, MOB galleries were seen in the lower trunk wood.

Avatar of commenter Hi Will thank you for the report, this tree was confirmed to have MOB. I also saw evidence of some basal stem rot and the landowner said you mentioned possible drought stress based on the thin canopy symptom - both could be precursors for MOB. I scouted other oaks in the neighborhood and didn't see whole branch dieback. Good looking out!
