Description of specimen

I believe it's a saber wasp, but I'm not sure and wanted to check if it's invasive to Oregon.

Commentary

Thank you for your report! Yes, that is a Giant Ichneumon wasp. It could possibly be the same species that the British call the sabre wasp, and we have other species as well in Oregon. They are not commonly seen, but they are important natural predators of pest woodwasps and other borers.

Location

Seen outside bedroom window, located by a small creek and the base of a hill, the other side of the hill is the freeway.
