Submitter does not have a specimen
Sending picture, sorry it isn't better. Not sure if big leaves are from a different plant, they were all so thick together. Stem looked pretty smooth, not any purple spots where I saw it up high. I'll be sure and get out and have a better look next time. Hope it's not a young hogsweed.

Thanks for emailing me your photo. I have no doubt that the plant you photographed is cow parsnip, a common native species. It does look very similar to giant hogweed, but hogweed has much larger leaves, flowers, and the stems are very red. See this link for more info on hogweed. http://www.oregon.gov/ODA/PLANT/WEEDS/profile_gianthogweed.shtml
Thanks for being thoughtful and aware of invasive species. We are very concerned about hogweed spread so it is GREAT to know you are out there keeping an eye out for that plant. Don’t hesitate to reports any species you suspect could be hogweed (or another new invasive for that matter, like garlic mustard or knotweed). We’d rather have a false report than miss an important new infestation.
Thanks and take care,
Tania
