Land Plants - invasive

Spotted Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) on Sep 26, 2011

Submitter does not have a specimen
EDRR Status: Local expert notified

Description of specimen

I noticed one full bush in bloom (4+ feet high), and thought it was curious to see it here rather than in the Midwest. I was out for a walk with others so did not investigate whether there were more of them around. I'm reporting it now because I just saw on this website another report from the nearby Valley River Center area.

Commentary

Dear Betsy,

Again, thanks so much for your report. I will notify the appropriate land managers. Please do keep on reporting. We could not detect and rapidly respond to new invaders without the watchful eyes of citizen scientists like you. THANKS!

Sincerely,
Tania
