Description of specimen

to my untrained eye the plants appear to be Eurasin Watermilfoil, long strings of material with green spikes that form dense mats, the stuff has grown remarkably fast this past summer

Hi Dan, thanks for your report. We checked with Portland State University Center for Lakes and Reservors, and Eurasian Watermilfoil has been confirmed in Fern Lake and in surrounding waterways - see the following report:
