Description of specimen

Bright green, metallic jewel like color on a narrow winged beetle.

Commentary

Hi Denise, good eye. Yes, you are correct. This isn't emerald ash borer, but it is a beetle in the same taxonomic family. It is the golden buprestid, a native species in Oregon. It is not considered a pest.

Location

I noticed two of them on my back deck. We live on the confluence of the North Santiam and Little North Santiam Rivers, in a mixed wooded area.
