Description of specimen
Spruce bud worm.
Commentary
Thanks for your report! This is silver-spotted tiger moth, which can feed on Doug-fir, western hemlock, shore pine, Sitka spruce and other conifers. It feeds on older needles without destroying the buds and new needles. it is native species and not considered a major pest.

Location
Forest, coastal mixed stand 8 to 15 years old. Planted Fir, hemlock, red cedar, Natural hemlock, Sitka spruce. Thick or dense > 500 trees per acre due to naturals to just planted ~300 tpa.
