Description of specimen

An Ash tree, approximately 50' tall, with decaying crown (lack of leaves), presence of woodpecker flecking/blonding on at least 5 visible location, boring holes (not immediately clear if "D" shaped) with visible duff (or another term to describe the tree matter surrounding bored holes). One month ago the lower portion of the tree had a significant presence of green shoots, and upon returning a month later all shoots are decaying. 4 images provided: 2 with green shoots depict tree approximately 1 month ago, image of flecking/blonding and bark detail from several days ago. Neither the tree nor the adjacent property are mine.

Commentary

An expert visited this site today. The tree in question, although declining and nearly dead, is not an ash. Therefore it cannot be EAB, as EAB attacks only ash, olive and whitefringe tree. Thanks for your report and thanks for being on the lookout for EAB. More info on EAB:
