Description of specimen

Subject was observed flying and landed on a person (me) and was knockned to the ground and observed. Shiny green metallic looking shell, just under 1 " in size, square slightly more brown head. Underside had a black and green/yellow pattern and was only glossy on green/yellow sections.

Capture of specimen was impossible as it flew off into the range. I was unable to get a picture as it happened relatively quick.

Thanks for your report. Unfortunately, without a picture of the specimen we cannot identify whether it is EAB or not. Oregon is home to thousands of insect species, some of which resemble EAB. Check out this guide here:

For trapping, we are at the end of the season where adults are flying about. Trapping season is June 1 - Sept 1. Traps and the training to run them are for local government agencies and state agencies. We did have a number of traps in your area this year. Check out the trap status here:
