Description of specimen

Many D shaped holes and splitting bark.
Sometime within this past year I believe that I may have seen one, but I wasn't able to get more than a glimpse before it scurried into a pile of mulch/needles and I wasn't able to find it again to get a better look. But it did appear to have the coloring and shape of the EAB and was small - maybe about 8mm or 9mm.

Commentary

Thanks for your report and for being on the lookout for EAB. Without pictures showing the insect signs on the bark or wood, it is really hard to diagnose. Is it possible to identify (a) if the tree in question is ash tree and (b) to look for characteristic "d-shaped" exit holes and tunneling under the bark of ash tree? Include some photos to your report for better diagnosis. For a review of how to identify ash trees as well as EAB, please visit www.OregonEAB.com Thank you!
